What is the VetK9 Reaction Team?
Purposeful Protection, Meaningful Employment
The VetK9 Reaction Team (VRT) provides real-world job training and paid employment for veterans, formerly incarcerated individuals, and those facing housing instability. By pairing participants with rescue dogs, we create skilled security teams that protect events, patrol communities, and respond to emergencies — all while changing lives on both ends of the leash.
Empowerment Through Service
How the Program Works
This isn’t just about safety — it’s about second chances. Participants gain hands-on training, develop professional skills, and contribute meaningfully to the communities they serve.
Through each mission, they reclaim confidence, dignity, and purpose.

Train To Succeed
Each trainee goes through a guided curriculum that covers:
- Life skills and communication
- K9 obedience and handling
- Emergency response and security readiness
- Practical deployment scenarios
They also learn teamwork, accountability, and the value of service-driven leadership.
Serve With Honor
Once trained, teams are deployed across a range of assignments:
- Event security
- Community patrols
- Crisis or disaster response
- Private security requests
Every assignment is paid, supervised, and aligned with the team's skill level and growth plan.
Grow Forward
As participants gain experience, they unlock long-term employment pathways and new leadership roles.
Program benefits include:
- Paid positions and mentorship
- Career development support
- Continued education and certification opportunities
- The chance to train future VRT members
Each mission completed is a step toward personal and professional transformation.
