Meet Josh Herbert
Josh knows exactly what it means to age out of the system with nowhere to go. At 17, he left a group home and stepped into homelessness & doing what he had to do to survive. Eventually, he joined the military, which gave him discipline, structure, and purpose — but also added to the trauma he hadn’t yet begun to unpack.
Through his healing, Josh found clarity and calling. He now owns several businesses, including a dog training facility, and has poured everything — time, money, sweat, and faith — into building BEAST Ministries from the ground up on 18 acres of off-grid land in Selmer, Tennessee.
He’s not just building a camp. He’s building what he wishes had existed when he needed it most.

Why “BEAST”?
A Mission That Mirrors His Story
Be A Strong Tower — It’s more than a name. It’s a mindset.
Josh was often called a “beast” growing up — for pushing through, for enduring, for grinding. But when God gave him the vision for this ministry, the word took on new meaning. BEAST became an acronym rooted in Psalm 18:10:
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
the righteous run to it and are safe.”
To Josh, every teen who walks through these doors is like a lighthouse — battered by storms, cracked and weathered, but still standing. Still shining. Still guiding others through the dark.
BEAST Ministries exists to help them rebuild — not into something new, but into who they’ve always been becoming.
The Camp
The Land. The Vision. The Heart.
Set on 18 rural acres, the BEAST Ministries camp is peaceful, rustic, and intentionally off-grid. It's not flashy. It’s not polished. But it’s real — and real is what these young adults need:
- Separate cabins
- Josh’s home as the central gathering lodge
- Paths, trees, and untouched natural space
- No white walls — just wood, fire pits, and work
