The Guardian House
Where trust becomes home.
A home is more than four walls and a roof.
It's where routines get built, where trust grows, and where the little things start to feel familiar. The Guardian House sits at Guardians Grove to bridge the gap between training and real life.
For dogs, it's practice for the family waiting for them. For people, it's a safe place to begin again.
From training to home life
Commands are the easy part.
A service dog has to know how to live in a house, not just how to work. Before placement, our dogs get to practice real household life here, with real routines, in a calm and supported way.
Instead of jumping straight from the training field into a stranger's living room, they make the transition one step at a time.
What dogs practice here
The everyday stuff that makes a partnership work.
01
Settling in
Finding a spot, lying down, and staying calm while the house moves around them.
02
Everyday sounds
Doorbells, dishes, the TV, the vacuum. All the noise a real home makes.
03
House manners
Respecting boundaries, doorways, furniture, and the people they live with.
04
Daily rhythm
Meals, walks, quiet time, bedtime. A routine they can count on.
The goal isn't a dog that can do tricks. It's a dog ready to live well beside the person who depends on it.
For people
A safe place to reset.
As the Grove grows, the Guardian House will also offer temporary housing for people who need a steady place to start: young adults aging out of foster care, veterans looking for a reset, and anyone facing hard circumstances who is ready to work toward standing on their own.
With a roof, real support, and connections across the Foundation, people can build routines, learn useful skills, and plan their next step.
It's not meant to be forever. It's a stepping stone to something steadier.
A home within the woods
Small steps. Every day.
Out here, away from the pressure and distraction of everyday life, progress happens a little at a time: learning a routine, building trust, taking responsibility, and discovering a different future might be possible.
Sometimes the first step toward a better life is having a safe place to call home.
